Henry Sims 1923-1972

 
William Henry Sims, 48, 109 Northeast 9th Street, chairman of the science department at Washington High School, died at 9:05 a.m. today, March 25, 1972, at the Daviess County Hospital after a four day illness.
 
Mr. Sims joined the WHS faculty in 1955 and had taught physics and physical science classes as well as heading the department. He was interested in photography and was sponsor of the Photography Club at the high school.
 
He was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church.
 
A native of Warrick County, he was born May 13, 1923, son of the late Timothy Sims and Mrs. Fannie Shepard Sims, who survives. He was a graduate of Folsomville High School and held the B.S. from Evansville College and the Master's degree from Indiana University.
 
His wife, the former Dorothy Leslie, whom he married in 1945, survives and one daughter, Mrs. David (Aleta) Sarles, Terre Haute, and one sister, Mrs. Marvis (Opal) Hunt, Boonville.
 
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Hazel officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. William Seat. Friends may call at the Gill Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday when the casket will be taken to the church and friends may call there. The casket will be closed at the start of the service.
 
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Boonville. Friends may call at Barnett-Perigo Funeral Home in Boonville from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (CST) Monday. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
