Emil Whittaker 1936-2004

 


Emil A. 'Whit' Whittaker, 68, passed away, Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Jan. 12, 1936, in Princeton, Ind., to Robert A. and Marcella Whittaker. He graduated from Princeton H.S., received his BS in ED from Muskingum College (Ohio), MS from Eastern Illinois, and EDS from Indiana State. He taught at several high schools, including Washington High School, and Vincennes University. While in Washington, Ind., he held positions of varsity football coach, chemistry and math teacher, junior high school principal and high school principal. He was a member of Civitan, Kiwanis, Board of Directors of the YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, and Westminster Presbyterian Church. He announced football games for the local radio station.

After retirement in 1994, he and Pat moved to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where they belonged to the King of Glory Lutheran Church and Emil, an avid golfer, belonged to an active golf group, Carolina Rebels.
 
Survivors are his wife, Patricia, of 45 years; sons, Wade of Washington, Ind., and Brock, of Fort Mill, S.C.; daughter, Wendy Hehmann of Indianapolis; his mother, Marcella Whittaker of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Luke and Noah Whittaker of Washington, Ind., Taylor, Lindsey, and Bridget Hehmann of Indianapolis.
 
A memorial service was held in Washington, Indiana. Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory of Indianapolis was entrusted with arrangements.
