Mary Scheid 1912-1999
Mary Ellen Scheid, 86, Rt. #4, Billings Road, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, at the Daviess Community Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gill Chapel. The Rev. Steven Kaetzel will officiate at the Veale Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 tonight and after noon Tuesday.
She was born on June 25, 1912, in Daviess County, to Oscar and Ellen (Allison) Billings. She married Forrest H. Scheid, on June 9, 1939 and he preceded her in death on April 14, 1995.
Scheid, a 1930 Washington High School graduate, was a retired teacher. She taught home economics and English at the Washington Community School for 16 years and received a B.S. degree from the Terre Haute Teacher's College.
She was a Delta Kappa Gamma, Wesley Circle of the Church, Indiana Teacher's Association and Daviess County Teacher's Association. She was also a Christ United Methodist Church member.
Surviving are: a son, James Edward Scheid, Washington; two grandchildren and a great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by a son, Forrest Allen Scheid and a sister, Nellie Enley.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Christ United Methodist Church.
