Miss Wilma J. Watt, 91, formerly of Woodmere Dr., died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19. 2001, at Lakeland Care Center in Elkhorn, Wis.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Gill Chapel.

She was born to William R. and Etta (Blackwell) Watt on June 26, 1910, in Washington.

Watt, a Washington High School graduate, was a head nurse on the surgical ward at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for six years and then assistant director of nursing at Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis for three years. She returned to Washington, where she was a school nurse for 29 years. She earned her bachelor’s of science and master’s of science degrees from Indiana University School of Nursing. She was a Westminster Presbyterian Church member in Washington, where she was an elder for many years and a former Sunday school teacher and superintendant. Also, she was a former commissioner to Presbytery for 15 years, as well as an Alpha Chi Omega and Kappa Kappa Kappa sororities, Monday Afternoon Club and Classical Club member.

She was also a Daviess County chairman of the Easter Seal Society for many years and a co-chairman of human resources telephone referral committee for nine years. She represented six counties in Southwestern Indiana as Older Hoosier of the Year nominee in 1988. She was also a Gray Lady at Daviess Community Hospital for 10 years, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a Daviess County Cancer Board member for many years.

Survivng are: four cousins, George Watt, Elkhart; John Glezen, Evansville; Mary Glezen Atwell and Nancy (Glezen) Quickel, both of Lake Geneva, Wis.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Cancer Society.  (Dec. 19, 2001)

Miss Watt was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington.
