Martha Mischler 1916-1994

 

Mrs. Martha W. Mischler, 78, 306 Hillside Dr., Washington, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 1994, in the Extended Care Unit of the Daviess County Hospital following an illness of several months and she was seriously ill two weeks.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev. Steve Kaetzel officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and before the funeral hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 25, 1916 in Lawrence County to James and Grace Eversole Wilkinson. She married John (Jack) Mischler Feb. 10, 1945 and he survives.

She was a graduate of Mitchell High School and Indiana University with a business degree. She taught at Washington High School, Washington Catholic, New Albany, Lawrenceville, Ill., and Knox County Schools including Wheatland, Monroe City and Freelandville Schools.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, and Wesley Circle of Christ United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Margaret) Hamstrom, Portage, two grand daughters, two sisters, Harriet Wilkinson, Mitchell, and Lois Gat???, Mesa, Ariz., and one niece, Judy Opfer, Palo Alto, Calif. One grand daughter, Evelyn Hamstrom, and three sisters, Murphy Cost???, Catherine Wilkinson and Helen Granger, have died.   (Nov. 5, 1994)
